Bishkek (AkiPress) – Appeal of the Coalition of explorer and mining companies to the Temporal Government.

Companies that are working in mining and geological branches worry about existing situation concerning investments protection in Kyrgyzstan.
Mining branch is one of the most important branches of the Republic’s economy that gives a great budget’s share of the country in terms of taxes, social fund payments and other payments required by the law.
The explorer and mining companies are carrying out their activity on the basis of the law of the KR “About subsoil resources” and other legal documents, they have all permit documents and licenses issued by the state bodies, they create tens of thousands of workplaces, and 95% of employees are citizens of Kyrgyzstan. The total sum of financing of current mining and geological projects in the country equals about one billion dollars.
The current circumstances develop in such a way that there are facts of corporate raids on some areas, threats from local population to crush the property of investors – geological settlements, equipment and already constructed enterprises with the connivance of new authorities and local government bodies. There is intervention of outside local population, local government bodies and state administration into internal economic activity of legal bodies. As a result of the reasons stated above the activity of almost all geological companies in the country is already suspended, investors have stopped transfer of money resources to Kyrgyzstan and payments to contract organizations, there is a threat of not payment of wages to the companies’ employees that can lead to new disorders, and also to receiving of financial resources to the country budget in incomplete volume.
The coalition is asking the Temporal Government to secure observance of the existing legislation (The Law of the KR “About investments in the KR”, article 6, the Law of the KR “About subsoil resources”, the Civil Code of the KR, etc,), the Convention “About protection of investors’ rights” and other international agreements signed by Kyrgyzstan.
The coalition is proposing to issue the Decree about protection of property and investors’ rights at the Kyrgyz Republic territory for not hindering companies’ work on the basis of their licenses and permit documents and to share the content of the adopted document with all state administration bodies and local government bodies in all provinces of the Republic.
